“How
To Cure Your Baggy Eyes”
The skin under our eyes is extremely delicate, which makes
it more sensitive to premature aging. The effects can produce lines,
wrinkles and dark circles...
Before we begin with our "combat" routine, let us
look at the top eight reasons why these dark circles could be plaguing
our lives...
Reason 1: Heredity...
Like varicose veins, dark circles under the eyes are usually
an inherited trait. If you have dark circles, there is a good chance
that others in your family also have them.
The skin under the eye is very thin. When blood passes through
the large veins close to the surface of the skin it can produce
a bluish tint. The more transparent your skin, also an inherited
trait, the darker the circles appear.
Reason 2: Exposure to the
Sun...
Even in darker skinned people, exposure to sunlight, especially
during the summer months, can cause a higher-than-normal level of
skin pigmentation (melanin) under the eyes.
People get sun tans because exposure to the sun increases
the natural pigmentation of the skin and draws that pigmentation
to the surface. The same principle applies to the skin under the
eyes.
Reason 3: Allergies, Asthma,
Eczema...
Any condition that you have that causes your eyes to itch
can contribute to darker circles under the eyes because rubbing
or scratching the skin can darken the skin.
Hay fever sufferers particularly will notice under-eye "smudges"
during the height of the allergy season. Some food allergies can
also cause the area under the eyes to appear darker.
Reason 4: Medications...
Any medications that you are taking that cause blood vessels
to dilate can cause circles under the eyes to darken. Because the
skin under the eyes is very delicate, any increase blood flow shows
through the skin.
Reason 5: Nutrition...
The lack of nutrients in the diet, or the lack of a balanced
diet, can contribute to the discoloration of the area under the
eyes.
Reason 6: Fatigue or Lack
of Sleep...
A lack of sleep or excessive tiredness can cause paleness
of the skin, which again allows the blood underneath the skin to
become more visible and appear more blue or darker.
Reason 7: Pregnancy and Menstruation...
The skin can also become paler during pregnancy and menstruation,
which again allows the underlying veins under the eyes to become
more visible.
Reason 8: Age...
If you have a propensity to have dark circles under you eyes,
as you grow older, they are likely to become more noticeable and
permanent.
Excess folds of skin under the eyes will also make dark circles
more pronounced.
So, if you're sick and tired of your eyes looking like you
just stepped out of a ring with Muhammed Ali, try these eight tips
to combat dark circles:
Tip 1: You can quickly
soothe your tired eyes with a cucumber eye pack or a baggy eye treatment.
How is this done?
Slice a cucumber and put it over both of your eyes. Lie down
(you deserve it!) and leave it on your eyelids for twenty minutes.
Tip 2: If you suffer
from puffiness, you should try sleeping with your head a little
higher (make sure your neck is supported) so that fluid cannot accumulate
as easily in the eye area.
Try this method out for two weeks and you'll notice a significant
difference.
Tip 3: To cover-up
dark circles when no other solution is present, use a product that
covers well, yet is light in texture.
Use one with Mica to reflect light because when light isn't
reflected properly, it can cause a "light reflection"
in your under eye area making dark circles seem darker.
Tip 4: Reduce your
stress!
Some say that those dark circles are encouraged by stress-
it can cause an increase in melanin production under your eyes.
If you can't rid that stress right now, make sure you are
taking enough vitamins with plenty of the Vitamin B family.
Tip 5: For a longer
lasting treatment, incorporate an under-eye moisturizer into your
daily beauty routine.
You should choose a product that is enriched with products
like elastin, collagen, and Vitamin E. Be careful not to over moisturize
as that can clog pores.
Tip 6: Avoid purchasing
concealers that contain oils as the oil will settle into the fine
lines under your eye and draw further attention to that area.
Also, try to avoid purchasing over-the-counter facial and
body bleaches: only use those prescribed by a dermatologist.
Tip 7: Stay hydrated!
If you drink plenty of water, this will actually prevent your
body from trying to retain it.
When your body attempts to retain
water, it causes a counterproductive swelling affect that happens
all over- including under the eyes.
Tip 8: Watch your
diet!
Make a mental note to cut down on sodium and caffeine. Both
of these can promote water retention that can settle in your face
as you sleep, causing puffy eyes.
Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables which will also lower
body fat!
The easiest way to reduce dark circles is to take care of
yourself- get plenty of sleep, cut out the smoking and eat healthy.
Your body will thank you in more ways than one!
