“Hollywood Secrets For Sexy Eyes

If you want sexy eyes like the Hollywood stars (WITHOUT spending a fortune on a make-up artist), try these surefire tips...

Sexy eyes begin with a good cleansing ritual. Our skin has to stay very moisturized to be at its peak.

Wrinkles can cause make-up to cake within the creases so be sure you are keeping your eyelids and upper eyes full of moisture.

The second thing a woman must do before she begins to apply eye make-up is prepare her eye. To cover under eye circles, apply concealer. Choose a gold-based color that matches your skin shade exactly. Gold counteracts the blue of the under eye circle.

The most common mistake women make when putting on concealer is that they choose a color that is too light which gives them the "reverse raccoon" effect. Another common mistake is putting concealer under the eye only. You should apply it all around and blend properly.

Foundation is the next key to sexy eyes. Most beauty books will recommend that you not wear foundation on your eyelids and upper eye areas but we feel as though this advice is only for someone who will apply make-up more than once a day.

Use your favorite foundation and cover up the problem skin accordingly. Problem skin in this instance can be dark patches of skin, blemishes, etc.

Once you've prepared the eye, you need to have the right "tools" for the job.

The best brush to have is a natural, bristled brush with a nice long handle. It should be flat and large enough to apply shadow on the eyelid and the edge of the tip can be used to apply shadow in the crease of the eye. The larger the brush, the less will be put onto your skin.

The next step is to choose a color. You should choose four colors- base, contour, accent and a highlight.

     Let's begin with the base.

For this particular color, choose a darker color in the palette and apply it to the inner third of your eyelid. Next, run it out to about halfway to the corner of your outer eye.

     Next, the contour.

The contour should be a lighter shade of the base color you chose. You will apply this to the remaining two thirds of the eye and you should also run this out to the end of your eyelid, but it should also subtly blend in with your base color at the inner one third.

     Third comes the accent.

The accent color gets applied to the lower fold of the eyelid as you stretch your eyelid by closing your eye and raising your eyebrow at the same time.

Finally, it's time for your highlight.

Apply a fine line of the lightest shade of eye color within your palette to the area mentioned above in the accent paragraph.

The highlight is what makes your brow appear to be higher than where it is plucked.

Once you have applied all of the colors to the eyelid, take a big, soft, blending brush and sweep the brush up and away from your eyes toward your temple.

You should be sweeping in the same direction of your lashes.

If you chose your colors wisely (which is explained in my book) and didn't apply them too intensely, you should now have a beautiful set of sexy eyes.

When applying your color, don't apply too much. The saying is golden: "less is more" and we like to take this approach with make-up. If you make the mistake of putting too much on because you can't see the color well enough, you may just find out that everyone else can see it too well.

Even though eye shadow may seem like the most important part of eye make-up application, keep in mind that eyeliner and mascara are equally as important.

Eyeliner should always be applied in a sparingly small amount to only the outer two thirds of one's eye. Depending on your eye shape, this could be significantly less. The idea and look we are trying to achieve is one of a larger and more open eye.

Mascara should also be applied sparingly and be sure to avoid the colored mascaras. Also, try to avoid waterproof mascaras for daily wear- they break down the lashes a lot quicker than normal mascara does.

Always keep in mind that celebrity make-up is more dramatic and applied heavier than everyday make-up. The best thing to do is experiment with many different looks that interest you until you find the perfect match.
